Shaheed Baba Rattan Singh was born in the late 17th century in the village of Bathulla in the womb of Mata Gurdai. He had two brothers. After the ascension of Mata Ji, Ratna reached Anandpur Sahib to Guru Gobind Singh, where while serving the Guru's house, he took the initiation of Khande di Pahul thus becoming Rattan Singh.

Accepting the Guru's command wholeheartedly, instead of returning to his village, he chose to settle in Chabbewal, which at that time was a desolate area to the south of his village. While living here, he himself lived according to the Gurmat and also preached the preachings of Guru Nanak. When the Rangads and Gujjars of this area looted the congregations going to Anandpur Sahib for the darshan of Guru Sahib, Baba Rattan Singh had also joined hands with Sahibzada Ajit Singh to confront them. Similarly, when Pathan Jabar Khan, who lived in the desolate area of Kasam Pura (now-a-days uninhabited), beyond Choe, to the north of Chabbewal, abducted the dola of the newly wedded wife of Devi Das from Bajwara. After hearing the pleas of the victims, Guru Gobind Singh Ji sent Sahibzada Ajit Singh with a battalion of 200 Singhs on March 7, 1703 AD, and instructed him to seek the assistance of Ratan Singh before launching an attack on Jabar Khan. It is said that Sahibzada Ajit Singh reached the nearby village of Bajrawar and called Rattan Singh. After sitting for a considerable time and discussing, they formulated a war strategy. In the evening, the assembled forces launched an attack. A fierce battle ensued. Jabar Khan was captured but many Singh warriors were martyred, whose last rites were performed at Gurudwara Shaheedan Ladewal and Gurudwara Hariaan Belan. n this battle, Baba Rattan Singh Ji also suffered serious injuries and, unable to bear the pain of wounds, attained martyrdom after returning to his place. His last rites were performed at his location. Today, Gurudwara Shaheed Baba Ratan Singh ji exists at this place.
